Social Enterprise Grant
Earlier this year Rural Health Connect was fortunate to receive a grant through the Queensland Government's Department of Employment, Small Business and Training. It was a Social Enterprise Grant, the first time these grants had been awarded. This money could not have come at a better time for us, allowing us to finish off some software development to cope with increased demand as COVID-19 started shutting down face-to-face psychology sessions. It also helped get us through a crucial period - known to many in the start-up scene as the "valley of death". We want to say thank you for two reasons:
1. For supporting us!
2. For supporting social enterprises - business that are driven primarily by a social purpose rather than profit.
It takes time and money for any business to reach a point where it is sustainable - even more so for social enterprises. Providing a boost at this crucial early stage can have many positive flow on effects and we encourage Governments at all levels to do more of it.
Our purpose is making psychology sessions more accessible for anyone who lives in a rural area or finds accessing in-person sessions difficult, as well as anyone who is disadvantaged in any way. It is a purpose we will always stay true to - and we have some big plans ahead
